IDA ICE integration (BETA)

IDA ICE integration (BETA)

Importing is a core process of One Click LCA. It is built on a patent-pending technology for transforming models to life-cycle impact assessments. This page concerns the use of the One Click LCA® in connection with IDA Indoor Climate and Energy (IDA-ICE). This is a beta feature and has known limitations.
Make sure you have the following before getting started:
  • One Click LCA user account.
  • Have IDA ICE 4.8 SP1 installed. Latest version is recommended.
  • An existing project in the user account linked to a valid license

How do you set up the IDA ICE Integration?

Where can I download it?

Download the extension from the attachments 'One Click LCA® beta for IDA-ICE' (can be found at the bottom of the page)

How do I Install it?

Double click the downloaded file and it will start installing. Please take note that this is a beta version and has known limitations. Install the extension. The beta installer finishes without notice once the installation is accepted.

How do you use the IDA ICE Integration?

Watch our tutorial video of the tool basic functionalities and test the web interface so that you’ll know how it works before starting the import.

Step 1: Open an IDA-ICE model

Open IDA-ICE and open the model you wish to use. To see what materials are defined for the different construction layers, follow these steps:
  1. In ‘General’ view, in the Zones list, choose one of the zones and choose ‘Open’.
  2. In the zone, in ‘Surfaces’ list, choose a surface and choose ‘Open’. Open the ‘Advanced’ tab.
  3. Click the rightward arrow next to any of the constructions, and choose ‘Open’.
  4. Review and edit the material layers as necessary.

Step 2: Export the data from the model

Choose ‘Tools’ and from there, ‘One Click LCA export’.

The file generation starts and completes automatically without a notice. During this time the IDA-ICE cursor will be rotating and it will not allow initiating a further action.
The Excel file generated will automatically open once the generation is ready. Save the file in your desired folder.

Step 3: Import the resulting data to One Click LCA

Follow the steps for data import for Excel.

Known limitations

The workflow has the following known limitations:
  • Only materials that are defined are exported and in the level of detail at which they are defined.
  • All windows are exported in two parts:
    • One part is the glazing, which the end user has to map to the correct amount of glass layers. This process works the same way for the detailed windows as well as the simplified windows
    • The other part is the window frame. The window frame has to be mapped to the specific type of material depending on the type of the window.
