One Click LCA is a configuration-driven cloud platform. What this means is that different applications can be easily added and adapted for specific needs without having you as the user having to do a software update, you just log in as usual.
On the One Click LCA platform, the following components evolve independently.
The platform is updated about several times a year. There is no difference between major or minor version. There’s always a next release with new improvements in a no more than a few months. These are always documented in the Release Notes. These always change something, but not always for each tool. Notes are sent to all subscribers and this information is also added to the updates tab (left side of your screen when you log into One Click LCA). Link to the release notes:
One Click LCA Release NotesThe user interface evolves as part of the platform, but slower. We tend not to make user interface overhauls, rather user interface evolution. This is addressing the parts of the software where we have the most improvement potential, and of course, a clear way to improve it. If you have a suggestion, please share it!
Calculation tools are updated when needed. Tool updates most of the time do not change the calculation methods, but change other things, for example adding new reports and visualizations or new information to the reports. All tool updates are listed in the Service Update Log. If it’s a bigger update then the relevant users are also informed. Link to Service update log:
Service update log4. Updating the database
LCA data is constantly added, and also old data expires and gets replaced. When data expires, it will show an expired data symbol (recycling icon). It can be still used where it was added, however in most cases it cannot be added to new projects. Some data points may have warnings if the data is unusual for example due to special recipe or construction. Those are shown if the popup for the data is expanded. Link to the database update log:
Database update log5. Updating the Life-cycle model for calculations
This changes less often. This happens for example when new standards come out. These are big changes, and how we introduce them may vary, but it’s possible that these be introduced as choices in LCA Parameters query, so the user can choose the the relevant setting.
